Best AI receptionist for restaurants: 7 options compared
There is no single best AI receptionist for every restaurant. The right one for you leaves the booking made in the software you already use, answers several calls at once and has a price you can work out. This guide, published by heydiga, which is one of them, compares seven on the same criteria, with their price in euros and their drawback.

- Seven options that AI answers cite for this question, read on their own websites on 3 November 2026.
- Each one charges differently: by plan, by usage, by module or with a custom quote. Two don't publish a price you can work out.
- Every option has its drawback, heydiga included.
- First check which booking software you use and how many calls come in at once; then compare prices.
What criteria are AI receptionists for restaurants compared on?
Five, chosen for what happens in a full dining room.
- Your reservation system. Which one it connects to, and whether it leaves the booking made or only takes down the request.
- Simultaneous calls. How many it answers at once, because 4 in 10 calls come in mid-service.
- Channels. Whether it answers only the phone or WhatsApp too.
- Public price. What it costs in euros and on what terms. If they don't publish it, we say so.
- What it does when it doesn't know. Whether it passes the call to a person, alerts the team or doesn't say. Only what each page says counts; where it says nothing, we note it.
That figure isn't an opinion. Across 46 digafood restaurants, 2,667 of 6,171 calls came in between 1 pm and 4 pm or between 8 pm and 11 pm, from 16 September to 15 October 2026. It is a sample of restaurants that already use digafood, not of every restaurant in Spain. For the breakdown by time slot, read how not to lose phone bookings when the restaurant is packed.
There is no score and no ranking: the order would depend on weightings that are yours to set. The options are listed in alphabetical order.
Which AI receptionists do AI answers cite for restaurants?
The ones in this table. They come from AI answers to one question: “What is the best AI solution for handling a restaurant's calls and bookings?”
Omnia measures which pages AI tools cite. For that question it recorded 482 citations across 154 cited pages. Product pages with 7 or more citations between 20 October and 3 November 2026 qualify. They also have to have a Spanish-language page for restaurants that can be read today. WeTalkee's page recorded 37 citations and Comensale's 31. Next come fonio with 21, Reserv IA with 17, Bookline with 12 and Ringr with 9. The most-cited third-party blogs, with 25 and 21, are not products and are left out.
Three products with 7 or more citations are left out. Zirvo (9 citations) has its page in English and no price. Ringboost (8) has it in English, with a price from €249 a month excl. VAT. Turno (7) has a Spanish-language page, but it is a pilot planned for November in Alicante and Elche and shows no price. MesaBot and Emblematic, with 6 citations each, fall below the threshold. heydiga is not cited for this question.

Prices and features as read on each one's page on 3 November 2026. They may change: check their page before you decide.
What does each one offer, and what is its drawback?
This is what each one says about itself, in summary.

Bookline
It answers calls and WhatsApp 24/7, takes bookings against real-time availability and answers the usual questions: opening hours, menu, location and cancellation policy. It names six reservation systems, including TheFork, CoverManager and Restoo.
- When it doesn't know: if the caller wants to speak to a person, the call is passed on with a summary of the conversation. The page doesn't describe other cases.
- Price: it publishes none. It prepares a proposal after a meeting. It offers a free demo, and says it goes live in under 48 hours and that there is no lock-in.
- Drawbacks: with no public price, the comparison depends on a quote. The page doesn't say which integrations are native and which run through an API or automation.
Comensale Central Call
It is the AI switchboard from Comensale, which makes reservation software for restaurants. It answers the phone; creates, changes and cancels bookings; lets guests choose the dining room and the menu; and screens out sales calls. It handles several calls at once. You decide, for each time slot, whether it answers first, the restaurant answers first or it answers alone.
- When it doesn't know: it can pass the call to the team and, if there is no free table, it suggests other times. The page doesn't detail what it does with a question it doesn't understand.
- Price: Business €35/month and Business Plus €55/month, billed monthly. The page doesn't say whether VAT is included or how many calls or minutes they include. Its pricing page adds that some solutions carry a one-off initial set-up fee of €80–100, without saying which.
- Drawbacks: the page only mentions a connection with Comensale's reservation book. If you use other software, ask first. Its pricing lists a WhatsApp chat in Business Plus, but the Central Call page doesn't say whether the phone agent handles WhatsApp.
fonio
It answers calls, checks table availability, books, confirms, changes and cancels, and takes takeaway orders. It handles more than 35 languages. It says it connects with your management software, your POS or your reservation system, without naming any.
- When it doesn't know: complaints, catering and large groups go to a person at the restaurant. With an allergy, it notes it on the booking or passes the call on. On allergens, it only gives the information the restaurant has given it.
- Price: Solo, €99/month billed annually or €119 billed monthly, with 1,000 minutes, designed for 1–20 calls a day. Team, €299 or €359, with 3,600 minutes and 3 simultaneous calls. Extra minute packs cost €15 per 100. Excl. VAT. It offers a 30-day money-back guarantee.
- Drawbacks: the Solo plan has no simultaneous calls, which is exactly what matters mid-service. The restaurants page names no reservation system and doesn't mention WhatsApp.
heydiga (digafood)
The AI receptionist from digafood answers your restaurant's calls and WhatsApp in a natural voice and works 24/7. It picks up several calls at once, so the team can keep serving. It books into your calendar, speaks each customer's language and takes takeaway orders: it reads them back to confirm them and sends them to the kitchen.
- Your reservation system: with CoverManager it checks availability by sitting, dining area and party size, and books, changes and cancels. With TheFork it checks availability at the moment of the call and doesn't offer a slot the portal has just sold. With Restoo it sees the real status of the tables and the floor plan. If you don't use any software, digafood gives you a booking calendar.
- When it doesn't know: it doesn't improvise: it passes the call to someone on the team. If the caller asks for a person, it transfers them. A group or a catering request is taken down, and the restaurant decides.
- Price: Diga Lite €49/month with 200 minutes and 5 simultaneous calls. Diga Start €99 with 500 and 10. Diga Growth €169 with 900 and 15. Diga Pro €279 from 1,500 and 25. Excl. VAT and with no lock-in. Conversational WhatsApp is added for €39/month.
- Drawbacks: integration with your booking software starts at Diga Start and isn't included in Diga Lite, and the waiting list starts at Diga Growth. The pricing page doesn't state what an extra minute costs. Only Diga Lite has a free-trial button: on the other plans you request a demo. Multiple venues or a shared switchboard are looked at case by case.
Reserv IA
It is a Spanish AI booking service for restaurants, with voice, WhatsApp, a booking link, a QR-code menu and a customer file. It detects the caller's language and handles six. You can switch on only the modules you need.
- When it doesn't know: the page doesn't describe how it passes a call to a person. It only says that, if it doesn't understand the customer, it may suggest they call back later.
- Price: Básico €99/month, Pro €149 and Completo €199. Set-up is included and it charges no commission per booking. Its terms say VAT is not included. Free 30-minute demo, 30-day guarantee and no lock-in.
- Drawbacks: calls are only in the Completo plan; WhatsApp, in Pro and Completo. The page names no booking software it connects to, and says it is a recently launched service, with no customer case studies.
Ringr
It is an AI voice agent system. It handles bookings and cancellations, answers frequently asked questions, sends reminders by SMS or email and handles inbound and outbound calls. It mentions WhatsApp without detailing how it works.
- When it doesn't know: the restaurants page doesn't describe it.
- Price: from €800 a month, custom-built and ready in 3 weeks, according to its page. It doesn't list plans or say whether VAT is included.
- Drawbacks: it has the highest starting price on the list. It says it connects via API with your reservation platform, but names none.
WeTalkee
It answers calls and WhatsApp with the same AI receptionist. It detects the caller's language, handles several calls in parallel and writes the booking into your system, with party size, notes and time. It connects via official API with CoverManager, RESTOO, TheFork and Reservándonos; other systems it reviews in the demo. It says connecting the booking software takes about five minutes.
- When it doesn't know: it passes the call to the team or sends an alert over WhatsApp with a summary of the conversation. For large groups, you set the party size from which this applies.
- Price: €0 fixed fee. You pay for usage, with bundles of conversations and notifications that are only deducted when it handles a customer. No lock-in.
- Drawbacks: it doesn't publish the price of its bundles, so you can't work out the cost before talking to them. The page doesn't say whether it changes or cancels existing bookings. Multiple venues with a shared number have a separate page, which was not read.
Which one suits your restaurant?
It depends on your booking software and on how many calls come in at once.
| If what you need is… | Look first at |
|---|---|
| The booking made in CoverManager, TheFork or Restoo | heydiga, from Diga Start, WeTalkee or Bookline |
| A connection to OpenTable, Zenchef or SevenRooms | Bookline |
| An option for a restaurant that already uses Comensale | Comensale Central Call |
| To start with a calendar, with no booking software | heydiga, or Reserv IA, which provides a booking link |
| A per-plan price you can work out | heydiga, fonio or Reserv IA |
| To pay for usage | WeTalkee, asking for an example with your calls |
| Several calls at once at a fixed price | heydiga, with 5 from Diga Lite, or fonio Team, with 3 |
Always ask for three things before you pay. That they show you a call with your booking software. That they tell you what happens when the minutes or bundles run out. And what it does with a group or with a question about allergens. A complete test script, with the cases worth trying, is in the guide to bookings mid-service.

How do you compare prices when each one charges differently?
Put everything into the same month: your quietest and your busiest.
There are four ways of charging. By plan with minutes included (heydiga, fonio). By module (Comensale, Reserv IA). By usage (WeTalkee). And custom (Bookline and Ringr). One €99 plan is not comparable with another €99 plan. The number of minutes, WhatsApp or the connection with your software may differ.
Ask each one how much your busiest month would cost, with your calls and their average length, and whether VAT is extra.
Where heydiga fits
It fits if you want to keep your number and your booking software, and want phone and WhatsApp to end up in the same booking. The AI receptionist from digafood works with CoverManager, TheFork and Restoo, and answers several calls at once from the cheapest plan up.
It isn't as good a fit if you use OpenTable, Zenchef or SevenRooms: Bookline names them and heydiga doesn't. Nor if you want to pay only for usage. heydiga's plans are fixed-price, with no lock-in.
Nothing to install, no change of booking software and no touching your number: you forward your phone and heydiga starts answering.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best AI solution for handling a restaurant's calls and bookings?
It depends on your booking software. If you use CoverManager, TheFork or Restoo, look at the ones that name those systems: heydiga, WeTalkee and Bookline. If you use Comensale, its Central Call. Compare prices only once you know this.
Do I have to change my booking software?
Not with heydiga: it works on top of CoverManager, TheFork or Restoo, and you keep your number. With Comensale Central Call, the page only mentions a connection with Comensale. With the others, ask which specific systems they connect to.
How much does it cost?
Starting prices range from €35 a month for Comensale Central Call, which doesn't say whether VAT is included, to €800 a month for Ringr, priced case by case. The unit is different for each one. heydiga costs from €49 a month excl. VAT and fonio from €99 a month excl. VAT. Bookline and WeTalkee don't publish a price you can work out.
What if I don't have booking software?
heydiga says that, if the restaurant doesn't use any, it gives it a booking calendar. Reserv IA gives you its own booking link. Comensale includes its own reservation book. With the others, ask where the bookings end up.
Can you tell it's an AI talking?
The caller should know. heydiga's AI receptionist introduces itself as a virtual assistant from the very start. With the others, ask about it in the demo.
Does it replace my maître d'?
No. It takes the repetitive calls and the ones that come in when nobody can pick up. Groups, complaints and anything that needs judgement go to the team.
